The Seminar for the Small Animal Practitioner Continuing Education Series is designed to present an intensive review of a specific topic. Our goal is to provide the most up-to-date information on diagnosis and therapy with an emphasis on keeping it applicable for everyday practice.
One of the most popular Seminars presented in the past 10 years was ENDOCRINOLOGY –The ANSWERS. Since then, there have been many new and exciting developments in the field of veterinary endocrinology. This year’s Seminar focuses on the two diseases that have changed the most in diagnostic testing and treatment and offers An In Depth Look at Diabetes Mellitus and Cushing’s Disease.
Cushing’s disease isn’t the only cause of cortisol excess -- we are! Glucocorticoids (prednisone, dexamethasone, etc) are the most commonly used drugs in veterinary practice. They are used to treat inflammatory, immune mediated and neoplastic conditions. Indications for their use, differences between the various preparations, new preparations and how to dose them will be discussed.
